Typical uses for toughened glass include: sliding doors, swing doors, building entrances, balustrades, bath and shower enclosures and other uses requiring superior strength and safety.
Toughened glass can be 'heat soaked' to provide a superior quality making the pane much less susceptible to fracture from nickel sulphide inclusions. The risk of breakage from nickel sulphide inclusions in heat soaked toughened glass is less than 1 in 100,000kg.
Toughened glass is the minimum requirement in all doors.
And takes three working days from site survey to fitting.
We do not recommend the use of Toughened Glass in single glazing or to the inner pane of double glazed units near swimming pools, food & beverage preparation units or any areas where the small broken pieces characteristic to this glass type, could cause injury due to contamination. In these situations laminated glass is recomended.
